Yeah, it’s summertime here in Florida. Hi, I’m Brian Hughes, PGA Master Professional and Program Director here at Keiser University in sunny Florida. During the summer, it gets hot and humid, just like it does in other parts of the country. So, how do we deal with the heat and humidity on the golf course to ensure your club doesn’t fly out of your hands?
Key Tips:
Stay Hydrated: The most important piece of equipment you should have is water. Golfers often forget they’re out in the sun, heat, and active for four-plus hours. Keeping yourself hydrated is crucial.
Use Your Golf Cart: When you’re out on the golf course, use the roof on your golf cart to stay in the shade as much as possible.
Keep a Towel Handy: A towel should serve two purposes. Keep one part dry to maintain your grips and another part wet to keep your hands clean.
Cool Your Hands: In the summer, when your hands get very hot, stick them in a water cooler to bring the temperature down. Dry your hands off afterwards. This helps you hold onto the golf club better for your next shot.
By following these tips, you can manage the heat and humidity effectively and maintain a good grip on your golf club throughout your game. Stay cool and hydrated out there!
