It’s December and this month marks twenty-one years of publishing for ASIAN GOLF. We’ve come a long way baby and it’s great to know that we are recognized as the Best Golf Magazine in Asia.
As we celebrate our 21st anniversary, we would like to recognize and honour some monumental achievements and milestones in Asian golf.
In the past twelve months, Asian professionals have gone on to gain global recognition and adulation – Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama became the first Asian to win The Masters. South Korea’s Jin Young Ko became the undisputed Player of the Year for the second time and the winner to the Race To CME Globe, making her the top star on the LPGA Tour and arguably the best player in the world. Thai teenager, Atthaya Thitikul, just 18 years-old, went on to create history by winning the Ladies European Tour’s Race To Costa Del Sol, earning her the right to be declared the best player on the European circuit. And another Thai, Patty Tavatanakit was voted the LPGA’s Rookie of the Year!
So many world accolades for Asia and this has opened a pathway for more Asian men and women to chase their dreams.
The December issue of ASIAN GOLF is proud to unveil the revitalized ASIAN TOUR’s ambitious plans to take Asia’s premier professional golf tour to the next level. After 27-years, the Asian Tour is poised to become a major global force in the professional game in a US$200 million dollar partnership with Golf Saudi, the golf promotion arm of the oil-rich kingdom of Saudi Arabia. ASIAN GOLF looks at what’s in store for the Tour under the leadership of its CEO and Commissioner, Chi Minn Thant.
