ECCO GOLF Ambassador Minjee Lee Wins Hugel-Air Premia LA Open
(LONDONDERRY, NH) – ECCO – a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear – announces that Ambassador Minjee Lee captured her fifth LPGA Tour title with a convincing four-stroke victory at the Hugel-Air Premia LA Open on Sunday.
Wearing ECCO BIOM® G2, the 22-year-old shot rounds of 66, 69 and 67 to lead after each of the first three days at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles, California.
Entering Sunday with a one-stroke lead, Lee finished in dominant style with a closing round 3-under 68, including a birdie on the par-3 18th to sit top of the pile at 14-under.
The win vaults the Australian from fourth to second in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings after her fourth top-three finish in her last seven events.
“Coming in, the first half of the year that I’ve had, I’ve been hitting it pretty solid and playing pretty solid. I felt like it was close,” said Lee. “I feel pretty good with this one. I was just going to carry on playing my own game. I had a couple birdie opportunities coming in, so I didn’t get rattled up or anything.”
Lee’s rich vein of form comes at a great time, with the next two women’s major championships, the U.S. Women’s Open and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, in the next six weeks.
“To have amassed five LPGA wins at only 22 years of age is quite an incredible achievement, and speaks volumes for Minjee’s unwavering work ethic,” said Jesper Thuen, General Manager, ECCO GOLF USA. “She’s established herself as one of the brightest young talents in women’s golf, and we look forward to supporting her as she continues to perform at the very pinnacle of the game.”
Lee competed in Los Angeles wearing ECCO BIOM® G2, a design which features an athletic, ECCO HYDROMAX® treated ECCO Racer Yak leather upper, as well as a technical insole system and anatomical last.
The shoe is also highlighted by exceptional support and comfort via ECCO BIOM® NATURAL MOTION® technology that mirrors the foot’s anatomical shape bringing the player closer to the ground, and a visible, carbon-look stability bar running heel to mid-foot.
In addition to Lee, ECCO GOLF shoes are worn in competition around the world by Lydia Ko, Caroline Masson, Fred Couples and Thomas Bjørn, among others.
