Challenge Tour invites wildcard for the European Tour event “Made in Himmerland – Presented by FREJA” is part of the prize pool in the ECCO Tour’s upcoming virtual golf series.
Simulator golf with TrackMan “is now so realistic that it in many ways can be equated with real outdoor golf tournaments”, says Flemming Astrup, ECCO Tour Owner and Made in Himmerland promoter. “That’s why we dare to put four ChallengeTour invitations and one wildcard for ‘Made in Himmerland by FREJA’ up for grabs.”
Virtual golf is proving to be a serious alternative to traditional Tour events, with TrackMan’s tour-proven OERT technology, accuracy, and high-fidelity recreations of world-famous golf courses around the world powering more and more virtual golf tournaments – with big prizes to be won.
The 2021 ECCO Tour Virtual Spring Series – Presented by Made in Himmerland will consist of three events played over three weeks, from the 8th to the 28th of March 2021. Following outdoor golf format, each event is played over 18 holes as Strokeplay (scratch) and is part of an overall points ranking championship.
The tournaments will be played from Monday to Sunday on the following virtual courses:
- 8th – 14th, March – PGA National, Florida, USA
- 15th – 21st, March – Great Northern, Kerteminde, Denmark
- 22nd – 28th, March – LibertyNational, New Jersey, USA
The 2021 ECCO Tour Virtual Spring Series is open to male professionals and amateurs with a handicap of 3.4 or better. All participants must be members of national PGA’s or Golf Union in either: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. The tournament can be played in any TrackMan Simulator regardless of geographical location.
Due to national covid-19 rules and restrictions, participants who play in Simulator Facilities in Denmark have to be members of either the European Tour, Challenge Tour, or Nordic League. Amateurs who play in Danish Simulator Facilities must be members of the National Golf Team.
Besides the Challenge Tour invitations and a wildcard, prize sums for winners are expected to exceed 100.000 Danish kr. (depending on the number of participants).
