San Antonio, Texas – Launched in the Spring of 2020, Edison Golf, has been selected as one of three finalists in the Product Ingenuity Category for Emerging Companies in Equipment by the International Network of Golf’s Annual Industry Honors. The winners of the 27th Industry Honors will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on Thursday February 25th at 4:30 pm via Zoom.
Created by master wedge designer and director of innovation, Terry Koehler, Edison Forged wedges challenge decades of traditional ‘tour design’ wedges by completely reconfiguring the weight distribution across the back of the clubhead. The result are the most forgiving wedges ever created. Robotic testing has proven that Edison Forged wedges deliver up to 58% tighter long/short dispersion, and up to 26% more spin than other mainstream wedges. A bonus of this weighting technology are more penetrating trajectories.
The innovative Edison Forged wedge design features Koehler’s latest iteration of his patented “Koehler sole.” The main rear portion of the sole has a low bounce so it can handle tight lies, firm turf and shallow swing paths. The leading portion of the sole has a high bounce so that same wedge can handle softer lies and steeper swings. The Koehler sole provides two bounces for consistent contact and spin regardless of the turf condition or player ability.
“For 30 years, I’ve built a reputation for challenging ‘conventional golf wisdom’ in the wedge category,” said Koehler. “Traditional ‘tour designs’ don’t benefit the vast majority of golfers, so I created the Edison Forged wedges to take the frustration, confusion and worry out of the short game. I am honored that the International Network of Golf has recognized our scientific commitment to improving wedge performance.”
Edison Forged wedges feature CNC-milled faces with progressive grooves – width, depth, spacing and wall angle are all optimized for each range of lofts. On higher lofts, Edison’s unique “X pattern” between the grooves provides even more spin for those short shots around the green. Every wedge is custom-fitted and finished with Edison’s proprietary Durable Chrome plating which is twice as thick and durable as other major brands.
The ING Industry Honors program is conducted by the non-profit International Network of Golf to recognize outstanding achievement in the golf business. ING is a non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to enhance and promote communication and education in golf. Winners in the eight ING Industry Honors categories were decided by a final vote of the ING membership. Membership is open to anyone in the golf industry, related industries and the media.
