Philanthropic organization of GCSAA advances the work of golf course management professionals.

Lawrence, Kan.  —  Emily von Doehren, chief member services officer for the United States Golf Association, has been appointed to the board of trustees for the GCSAA Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).

Von Doehren joined the USGA staff in 2012 as its senior director of regional affairs. In 2017, she became chief of staff before moving up to her current role, in which she oversees the USGA-AGA relationship and services and the USGA Green Section, among other responsibilities.

“With Emily’s involvement in the game for many years, her wealth of knowledge, and oversight of the Green Section she will help us advance the mission of the Foundation,” said Mark F. Jordan, CGCS, GCSAA president. “We are excited to have her join the board of trustees.”

The GCSAA Foundation secures funding and support to strengthen advocacy, education, and research that advances the work of golf course management professionals. It was founded in 1955 as the Scholarship & Research Fund for the GCSAA.

The board of trustees is composed of four GCSAA directors and one representative each from the USGA, PGA Tour and PGA of America. The trustees are responsible for advancement, policies, and general review of the mission and goals of the organization.

The current board also includes Jordan, Kevin P. Breen, CGCS (GCSAA vice president); Kevin P. Sunderman, CGCS (GCSAA secretary/treasurer); Jeff L. White, CGCS, Arjun Chowdri (PGA of America) and Paul Vermeulen (PGA Tour).
