The February edition of ASIAN GOLF is out and we are sticking our neck out to predict that good times are ahead for the golf industry in Asia in general and Southeast Asia in particular.
According to a recent study by the global financial services organisation Deloitte, the size of the middle class in ASEAN, a ten-nation economic bloc, will account for 334 million people by 2030. The expected disposable income of this group is going to be a staggering US$300 billion. These are impressive numbers and based on a projected annual growth of 5.5% a year, ASEAN is forecast to become the fourth-largest economy in the world by 2050.
Combine this with projections for China and India where the size of the middle class is going to be 1.04 billion and 1.17 billion respectively by 2050, Asia is the place to be for the golf industry.

Work is progressing in earnest for the staging of the Inaugural World Golf Expo. The new date for the event is November 4 – 7, 2021 and the venue is the plush, multi-million dollars Mission Hills Golf Resort in Haikou, Hainan.
