FedEx Cup Winner Claims $15 Million Prize in Cleated Footwear
The largest tournament prize in PGA Tour history was handed out at the Tour Championship over the weekend, and it went to a player who utilized the stability, traction and control of cleated footwear to separate himself from the competition. The winner of the FedEx Cup and Tour Championship, along with 17 of the top 20 finishers, chose cleated footwear while competing at the season’s final event.
“The best golfers in the world battled long days, inclement weather and the pressure of a $15 million prize over the weekend, and the players that rose to the top of the field did so in cleated footwear,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for Pridesports®. “We saw throughout the tour season, event after event, that replaceable cleat technology makes a difference by delivering superior traction and stability.”
The 2019 FedEx Cup winner and Tour Championship winner claimed his second career season-long trophy by shooting a final round 66 in Nike Vapor React 2 footwear with Softspikes® Pivix cleats.
On the other professional tours, the winner of the LPGA Tour’s CP Women’s Open claimed victory in Nike footwear with replaceable cleats, and the winner of the Champions Tour Boeing Classic wore DryJoy Tour footwear with Softspikes® Tornado cleats.
On the Korn Ferry Tour, the winner of the Albertson’s Boise Open grabbed a win in adidas® Tour 360 footwear with Thintech XP replaceable cleats.
Replacement Softspikes® and Champ® cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.
