FireFly Robotics’ Autonomous Mower Maintains Six Fairways at Utah Championship’s 35th Anniversary

July 31, 2026

OGDEN, Utah — This week’s Utah Championship, a Korn Ferry Tour stop, is celebrating its 35th anniversary and is showcasing autonomous turf technology from Salt Lake City-based FireFly Robotics. The company’s Autonomous Mowing Platform (AMP) is maintaining six fairways at Ogden Golf and Country Club throughout tournament week.

Each morning before play, the electric AMP mower quietly operates in the dark without a driver, executing a precise 50/50 mow pattern with turns in the step cut. While the mower is capable of driving itself autonomously between fairways, a volunteer manually transports it from hole to hole this week due to tournament ropes and stakes.

“Being able to bring this technology to Ogden Golf and Country Club, in front of Korn Ferry Tour players and fans, is a proud moment for our team.” said Andrew Limpert, CEO at FireFly Robotics.

Nestled between the Wasatch Mountains and the greater Ogden area, the club’s history goes back over a century. Greg Gilmore, Director of Golf Course Management, has served the Ogden Golf and Country Club for 22 years and was named Utah GCSA Superintendent of the Year in 2024.

FireFly Robotics, formerly FireFly Automatix, was founded by members of the Aposhian family – who have worked in Utah’s sod industry for more than 50 years – and partners. The company is the worldwide leader in manned robotic sod harvesters, and AMP mowers are now deployed at golf courses across North America. All FireFly machines are designed and built in-house at the company’s Salt Lake City facility.
