NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Five Iron Golf, the nation’s leading indoor golf and entertainment experience, started 2023 on a high note, earning national recognition for the company’s co-founders and welcoming a record number of guests at the company’s 16th location in downtown Boston for its opening weekend.
Mike Doyle, Five Iron Golf Co-Founder and Chief Golf Officer, was recognized as one of Golf Digest’s Best Young Teachersin the golf industry. Joining an elite group of other instructors, Doyle has firmly established himself as an industry leader in golf instruction. After starting his career working at a course in Westchester, Doyle became an early adopter of utilizing the golf simulator for high quality lessons, developing a passion and mastery that he’s shared with thousands of students. In 2011, after Doyle transitioned to teaching full time on simulators in New York City, Jared Solomon, Five Iron’s co-founder and CEO, began taking lessons with Doyle in the back of a men’s clothing store; the vision for Five Iron Golf was born shortly after.
Solomon, Doyle and the entire Five Iron Golf team have achieved impressive success since the early days of golf lessons in the back of a men’s clothing store. Solomon was a finalist for the 29th Annual ING Industry Honors Award, which recognizes outstanding business achievements in various areas of the golf industry. Solomon remains focused on growing the Five Iron Golf brand domestically and abroad and pursuing key strategic partnerships with organizations geared towards making golf approachable and accessible, such as First Tee and Fore the Ladies.
On top of these prestigious awards, the highly anticipated Five Iron Golf Boston opened its door to the public on January 27, welcoming close to 400 guests in its opening weekend, many of whom had acquired Five Iron Golf Boston’s sold-out Founding Membership, which provides free off-peak hitting time and other great perks at a discounted price. In conjunction with the opening, Five Iron Golf Boston also developed a unique partnership with Mass Golf. Five Iron Golf Boston is recognized as an official Mass Golf Members Now Club, enabling Five Iron Golf users to house their Handicap Index© at Five Iron Golf Boston.
Additionally, Five Iron Golf Boston plans to host the 5i Boston Open Championship, a first-of-its-kind concept designed to introduce the local community to the Five Iron Golf brand through friendly competition. Teams, top amateur and professional golfers will participate in a nine hole scramble on Pebble Beach’s historic course for the chance to win an exclusive prize package and the honor of holding the title of the first Boston Open Championship winner. As an expansion of the partnership with Mass Golf and in line with Five Iron Golf’s commitment to growing the game through access and philanthropy, a donation will be made on behalf of Five Iron Golf to First Tee Massachusetts.
The company’s expansion plans include the openings of eight locations in 2023. By combining golf, technology and entertainment, Five Iron Golf continues its core mission of providing inspiring and enriching experiences in a friendly, accessible and community-driven environment.
