San Juan Capistrano, CA – In its ongoing quest to provide a dedicated home and an expanded voice for the ten million US and Canadian golfers sixty and over, Fore! Sixty Golf is creating the first online forum to address the specific issues impacting mature golfers. Though older golfers play twice as many rounds annually as the average golfer and arguably are more passionate about their favorite pastime, Fore! Sixty believes that the golf industry often overlooks this key segment while cultivating a youthful, tour celebrity vibe. What isn’t debatable is that the game is different for older golfers who typically deal with a myriad of age-related challenges from reduced flexibility, strength and stamina, along with struggles with vision, diabetes, arthritis, joint pain and balance. For example according to Trackman Golf the average male golfer has a driver swing speed of 93mph which declines to just 75-80 mph for the typical 70-year-old amateur golfer.
The new Fore! Sixty forum for mature golfers will reside at its www.foresixty.com website and will feature a combination of issue experts and everyday golfer posts on a wide variety of topics including golf equipment, wellness/pain relief, golf travel, and fitness/nutrition. There will also be a dedicated forum for female golfers sixty and over, again the only one of its kind in the industry. Issues experts including Fore! Sixty resident Hall of Fame golf pro Mike Wydra, US Golf Labs President Gene Parente, wellness expert Lena Ackerman, Sports Nutrition Author Amy Goodson and Yoga for Golfer author Katherine Roberts among others who are expected to have a regular presence.
Fore! Sixty was created by two sixty-something successful entrepreneurs, Jim Plumb and Ralph Fascitelli with strong athletic backgrounds and an ongoing, albeit often “one way”, love affair with the game of golf. According to Plumb, “the Fore! Sixty forum is an important element in our mission to have an open and mutually beneficial dialogue with mature golfers, along with our podcasts, instructional videos, newsletters, and Facebook page. We created Fore! Sixty to be an online community for passionate golfers like us who want to do everything reasonably possible to enhance their game and who will value the convenience of a single online location dedicated exclusively to their unique needs”.
Fore! Sixty’s “resident pro” is legendary, sixty something former University of California San Diego Coach and Golf Coaches of America Hall of Fame inductee Mike Wydra. Wydra coached the UCSD golf team for over thirty years and 21 times had them qualify for the NCAA Championship including the national D-III title in ’93. Mike is known for his holistic approach to the game of golf including proper nutrition and fitness.
