Lindon, UT—This week, foreUP Golf Software enabled ACH payments with next-day funds for those using their innovative online member billing portal. This technology allows golf course owners to avoid thousands of dollars per year in costly credit card fees.
ACH payments draw directly from a customer’s checking or savings account. Because the money comes directly from the account to the business, ACH payments avoid the expensive processing fees that credit cards incur.
The online member billing portal, which manages a member’s bills, F&B minimums, late fees, and other charges, is enabled to handle both credit cards and ACH payments. Courses can set up a notification in the portal inviting their members to switch to ACH. Additionally, foreUP has provided templates to their customers to allow courses to notify their players of the new option through email.
Beyond avoiding credit card fees, foreUP ACH also offers the following features:
1. Lower Processing Fees
In contrast to the exorbitant fees most courses pay for credit card usage, foreUP ACH only charges 1% per ACH transaction.
2. Customizable Convenience Fees
Courses can both incentivize their customers to switch to ACH and recoup processing costs by setting a convenience fee that matches the credit card processing fee.
“We recognize that not every customer will jump to switch to ACH,” says Christian Arntsen, Director of Product at foreUP, “so the new feature also enables convenience fees to give our clients a way to incentivize their customers to make that switch.”
3. Quick Payment Processing
foreUP ACH payments are processed within one business day, whereas many other ACH processors can take up to ten. This is often a problem for courses who need timely processing to cover their expenses.
The new feature takes courses approximately 3-5 minutes to get fully set up, allowing them to start receiving next-day funds almost immediately.
Arntsen says, “Since implementing foreUP ACH, one client course had 90 members sign up in a week’s time, immediately saving the course hundreds in processing fees. This technology will be a huge asset to all of our courses, wherever they are.”
