French Lick Resort Hosting Sirius/XM PGA TOUR Radio Network Listener’s Cup
Bragging rights on the line for some of golf’s leading radio broadcasters
French Lick, IN – French Lick Resort has become a leading venue for some of golf’s major events and this week is no different as bragging rights are at stake when Sirius/XM PGA TOUR Radio Network hosts the 7th Annual Listener’s Cup for the second straight year this week July 24-27.
The historic and iconic resort destination in southern Indiana will host teams captained by the leading golf radio personalities on Sirius/XM PGA TOUR Radio Network – Matt Adams of “Fairways of Life,” Carl Paulson of “Inside the Ropes, Brian Katrek and John Maginnes of “Katrek and Maginnes On Tap,” – will feature 44 avid listeners from 20 different states and Canada competing in Ryder Cup-style matches on both the Pete Dye and Donald Ross courses. The event has previously been held in Newport, RI; Myrtle Beach, SC and Hilton Head Island, SC.
The sold-out event includes a diverse group of golfers including CEOs, truck drivers, managers of finance and a manager of a hog farm, as well as a handful of intrepid women ready to sling verbal broadsides as well as they hit their wedges.
The big moments of the three-day event are the radio shows hosted by the four captains that will allow the golf world to share in stories of shots made, shots missed, shots recovered, and holes won and lost by the hosts and their competitors. It adds up to a dominant theme for 22 hours of coverage on their shows morning, mid-day and evenings from the historic French Lick Resort.
Competitors will be staying at the classic French Lick Springs Hotel, one of two nationally historic hotels at the Resort that harken back to a simpler time, but still offer state-of-the-art amenities, including a Las Vegas-style casino. The Resort has a long history of hosting dignitaries from business, government and Hollywood, and now entertaining conventions and families from around the world. The Pete Dye Course is carved from the hillside of one of the highest points in Indiana, is considered maybe the state’s most unique challenge will host the second Senior LPGA Championship presented by Old National Bank this fall. It also hosted the 2015 Senior PGA Championship won by Hall of Famer Colin Montgomerie.
The Donald Ross Course is an Indiana historic landmark that celebrated its Centennial year in 2017. It hosted the 1924 PGA Championship won by Walter Hagen and hosted other golf greats and celebrities such as Gene Sarazen, Chick Evans, and Bing Crosby. The Ross course, which has been fully restored, is a parkland gem meandering up and down the rolling hills a few miles from the main resort.
The event is being produced for the fourth straight year by Golf Reservations and Events, a producer of top pro-am events across North America. For more information on their upcoming schedule, visit www.proamevents.com .
