Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour to be the Official Canadian Qualifying Tour of Future Champions Golf
The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s most-played Junior Tour, will host a qualifying event in each of its six regions this spring to qualify players for the 2019 FCG Callaway World Championship that has quickly become one of the premier world championships in junior golf. Run by Future Champions Golf (FCG), the event featured 600 players from 37 different countries last year. This year the July 15-17 event in Rancho Mirage, CA will grow to 732 players from 45 countries, and increase venues from nine championship courses to 11.
The FCG Callaway World Championship, which is now in its 11th year, is much more than just a golf tournament as there are several special learning opportunities included. The MJT will have one exemption per age division, per region with an additional spot being granted in the 15-18 divisions, giving even more Canadian junior golfers the opportunity to compete this year.
New for 2019, the MJT and FCG have expanded their partnership to also include the four-day AJGA PBE recognized FCG International Junior Championship which runs July 1-5 at the Sycuan Resort in El Cajon, CA. Similar to the FCG World Championship, Canadians will have the opportunity to qualify for the FCG International through various MJT qualifying events held throughout the spring across the country.
