Brewster, Wash. – Multimedia company The Fire Pit Collective is documenting the history of Gamble Sands and following the construction of the property’s new 18-hole, David McLay Kidd-designed championship golf course for a multi-platform series. Construction on the highly-anticipated ‘second course’ at the Top 100 Golf Resort is underway with grand opening scheduled for summer 2025.
Throughout the multi-year project, Fire Pit Collective and host Matt Ginella will follow the journey of the new course, from design concept and ground breaking to completion and first rounds. Ginella will sit down with McLay-Kidd, interview Gebbers Farms CEO Cass Gebbers and Gamble Sands Project Manager Tory Wulf, as well as individuals who were key in the development of the golf destination. The result will be a multipart storytelling series by The Fire Pit Collective, combining prose, video and podcasts to tell the incredible Gamble Sands story.

The concept of Gamble Sands began with the Gebbers family vision of creating a high-end, Pacific Northwest destination resort highlighted by a variety of outdoor recreational activities. With thousands of acres to choose from on the Gebbers farm, including acres of apple and cherry orchards, the family partnered with OB Sports’ founder, Orrin Vincent, to conceptualize a ‘no limits’ world-class golf resort. Soon thereafter, the Gebbers and Vincent approached McLay-Kidd with their shared vision. Years later, in the summer of 2014, the highly acclaimed Sands course debuted at Gamble Sands. Located on a sandy plateau above the Columbia River, the Sands course is currently listed among ‘Golfweek’s Best: Modern Courses, 2023,’ and also ranks among ‘Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play’ in Washington. The course is currently is No. 14 on GOLF’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play and No. 38 on Golf Digest’s ranking of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.
In 2021, Gamble Sands unveiled its 14-hole QuickSands short course (also a McLay Kidd layout) providing golfers with a fun and imaginative shot-making alternative to the Sands course. In 2022, Gamble Sands announced plans to build the second 18-hole, David McLay Kidd-designed championship golf course. The yet-to-be-named course adds to an already impressive collection of golf and hospitality amenities at Gamble Sands.
In addition to the new golf course, the Inn at Gamble Sands, the 37-room on-property lodge, is also being enhanced with 40 more rooms added (for a total of 77 rooms). The Inn at Gamble Sands features oversized rooms that match the wide-open nature of Gamble Sands, as big rooms open to the big golf course, framed by even bigger views that sweep across the Columbia River Valley. Danny Boy Bar and Grill, and the property’s new dining venue The Barn (opening summer 2023) provide diners with more views of the Cascades and Columbia River Valley.
Ginella has been covering golf for 26 years – first at Sports Illustrated, then Golf Digest and Golf World magazines and most recently for Golf Channel, where he appeared as the Travel Insider for “Morning Drive” and wrote for Golf Advisor.com. He is the founder of The Fire Pit Collective, a modern media company composed of authentic and diverse perspectives focused on informing, inspiring and entertaining their readers, followers, and listeners.
