Dallas, Texas – The All Pro Tour (APT), a professional golf tour serving as a path to the PGA TOUR, will be heading to Garland, Texas for The Gateway Buick GMC Classic. The 4-day tournament will feature a field of PGA TOUR-bound hopefuls competing at the beautiful Firewheel at Garland – Bridges Course.
“Firewheel has hosted a number of our APT events over the years,” said Gary DeSerrano, president of the All Pro Tour. “The pandemic delayed our return to Garland a few years but we are thrilled to return. The tournament traditionally has strong fields and we are expecting another fantastic field. Past participants have included PGA TOUR winners Andrew Landry, Brice Garnett, and Dawie Van Der Walt.”
The tournament is scheduled for April 12-April 15, 2022. The week will include practice rounds, a pro-am and a 72-hole championship concluding on Friday, April 15th. The purse is expected to be $130,000 with the tournament champion taking home an estimated $25,000.
“We are so excited to host the APT,” said Don Kennedy, Director of Golf at Firewheel. “It is so special to watch these guys move onto the Korn Ferry Tour and eventually the PGA TOUR.”
In addition to tournament play, there will also be a pro-am on Monday where pro-am net proceeds will benefit the Good Samaritans of Garland.
“I highly recommend that high school golfers, college players and any aspiring young golfers come and watch these players because you can get up close and learn a lot just by watching them,” said Kennedy.
Admission is free for practice rounds and tournament-play spectatorship. To participate in the pro-am tournament, become a sponsor, or to volunteer, please contact Don Kennedy (972) 205-2795.
About the Good Samaritans of Garland
Good Samaritans of Garland, “Good Sam”, was formed in 1983 from an alliance of several Garland faith communities with the intent to provide centrally-located services for neighbors in need of assistance. In 2016, the Board of Directors elected to narrow Good Sam’s assistance to providing food with kindness and compassion to our hungry and food-insecure neighbors living in Garland,Rowlett, and Sachse. Many of Good Sam’s housed families are caregivers for elderly parents, raising grandchildren, disabled, or facing a family emergency or other unexpected life challenge. Often, food assistance reduces anxiety and helps families from fallingfurther into overwhelming need and hopelessness. Good Sam’s staff and volunteers welcome all guests with kindness and respect, assuring our guests we are available to help them navigate through a difficult time with food and/or resource assistance.
