Scholarship program aids children and grandchildren of association members
Lawrence, Kan. — The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) has awarded 20 college scholarships as part of its Legacy Awards program.
To be eligible, applicants must be a child or grandchild of a GCSAA member. The program is funded by GCSAA’s philanthropic organization, the Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG) in partnership with Syngenta. Each grant is for $1,500.
“GCSAA takes pride in providing assistance to our members’ families,” GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans said. “With the support of the EIFG and Syngenta, the Legacy Awards give students well deserved financial aid as they continue their education.”
The awards are based on academic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activities and leadership skills. Applicants must be enrolled full time at an accredited institution of higher learning, or for high school seniors, accepted at such an institution for the next academic year.
“Syngenta is committed to providing education to golf course superintendents and to the next generation of leaders through the Legacy Awards. This is one small way of thanking them for their dedication to grow and protect the game of golf,” said Stephanie Schwenke, turf marketing manager for Syngenta.
