High Stakes Par-3 Golf Tournament Set For April 30 – May 3 at Grass Clippings Rolling Hills
Tempe, Ariz. – Gila River Resorts & Casinos will be the presenting sponsor of the 2025 Grass Clippings Open; a high stakes par-3 golf tournament scheduled to take place Wednesday, April 30th through Saturday, May 3rd at Grass Clippings Rolling Hills, Arizona’s first fully lit 18-hole golf course. The Grass Clippings Open presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos is the first event of the 2025 Grass League season with 66 two-person teams competing in a gripping 36-hole tournament over two days, adhering to a no-stroke, two-person scramble, low gross format. The final round will air live on NBC Peacock on Saturday, May 3rd. Grass Clippings Open tickets are now on sale at www.GrassLeague.com and include access to the tournament and post-golf afterparties featuring two platinum recording artists: indie rapper/singer Bryce Vine will perform on Friday, May 2nd and singer/songwriter Quinn XCII will play on Saturday, May 3rd.
“Gila River Resorts & Casinos is proud to partner with the Grass Clippings Open. Coming off the heels of the LPGA Ford Championship Presented by Wildhorse Pass, we are incredibly excited to participate in this event and to bring the night golf vibe and experience to our customers,” said Gregory DiVincent, Corporate VP of Marketing for Gila River Resorts & Casinos.
As part of the presenting sponsorship agreement, Gila River Resorts & Casinos will receive branding throughout the tournament, a hospitality suite on the 18th green, tickets to the golf tournament and nightly concerts, commercials on NBC Peacock’s live tournament broadcast, as well as social media and YouTube collaborations leading up to the tournament. Gila River Resorts & Casinos will also have three teams participate in the April 30th Grass Clippings Open Qualifier with each playing for a chance to compete in the Grass Clippings Open.
The April 30th Grass Clippings Open Qualifier will feature a total of 108 two-person teams competing for a chance to play in the May 2nd and 3rd tournament. The top 25 qualifiers will be entered into the Grass League Draft (held on May 1st), during which the 11 existing Grass League Franchises will select two two-person teams to compete on their rosters during the Grass Clippings Open – this means only 22 teams will be selected, so participants will need to leave no doubt that they’ve got what it takes to compete with the best.
The Grass Clippings Open will feature an incredible fan experience with hospitality tents, vendors, food trucks, plenty of libations and live music capping off the festivities on May 2nd and 3rd. The schedule of events will include:

About Grass Clippings Rolling Hills
On March 2, 2023, the Tempe City Council approved Grass Clippings’ plan to overhaul and operate Rolling Hills Golf Course. Grass Clippings executed a long-term lease with the City of Tempe and took over the property on July 1st of last year, with Troon immediately assuming management of daily operations. Scottsdale-based WestHawk Capital partnered with Grass Clippings to lead a $15 million round of equity capitalization to finance the complete renovation of the facility, including the installation of lights and the full F&B and amenity package currently under development. The golf course reopened on Friday, November 3, 2023 following a four-month golf course renovation project and rye grass overseed, construction of a newly designed 9th hole, new tee boxes, installation of a new state-of-the-art irrigation system to improve turf quality, and a new 15,000 sq. ft. practice putting green. Grass Clippings Rolling Hills then opened to night golf play on Friday, December 1, 2023 and instantly became a favorite destination for golfers. More than 78 LED lights illuminate the golf course, which plays as a par 54, par-3 golf course at night and as an executive-length golf course (with par 3s and 4s) during the day. Golfers are able to track ball flight through the night sky on holes that range from 90 to 200-plus yards, while enjoying 360-degree views of downtown Tempe, Sky Harbor Airport, downtown Phoenix, the Phoenix Zoo and the nighttime silhouette of Papago Buttes.
The introduction of lights and night golf is just the beginning for the golf and entertainment venue, the flagship location for Grass Clippings’ cutting-edge vision. The team unveiled a refurbished golf shop in May 2024 and is in the process of renovating the clubhouse, adding a new Mexican food restaurant (Glenrosa) and a patio bar. In addition, Grass Clippings Rolling Hills will add a hilltop bar near hole 8, an activity lawn and video display, and an entertainment site for live music, markets, and events, with full completion of all projects targeted for 2025.
