Exclusive items offered in honor of the 50th anniversary of Coody’s Masters Victory
TAMPA, Fla. – The Golf Auction opened its global online auction featuring the Charles Coody Collection on Friday March 26, 2021 at 8:00 pm EST. The online auction (www.thegolfauction.com), which runs from March 26-April 11, contains more than 150 items of 15-time tour winner Charles Coody’s memorabilia along with other Masters’ memorabilia and historical collectibles.
Coody won the 1971 Masters Tournament held April 8-11 at Augusta National Golf Club. He finished two strokes ahead of runners-up Johnny Miller and Jack Nicklaus. It was his only major title.
“The thing about winning at Augusta,” said Coody, “is that people always remember. They might not remember the year, but they always remember your name, that you’re a Masters champion. And that’s an indescribable feeling.”
Among the exclusive items being offered include Coody’s Masters champion medal, contestant’s badge and golf clubs from the tournament.
“It is an honor to offer these personal items and memorabilia of Masters champion Charles Coody for the first time ever,” said Kip Ingle, Vice President of The Golf Auction. “Mr. Coody’s Masters champion medal is a rare item to have come to auction and will be a prized possession for any serious golf collector.“
This will be the third PGA Tour major champion’s collection to be sold by The Golf Auction in 2021. The previous auctions included collections from U.S. Open champion Steve Jones and three-time major champion Payne Stewart. The current auction is now open online at www.thegolfauction.com and will close on Masters Sunday, April 11 at 9:00 pm for initial bids; extended bidding will be allowed until all bids are final. More than 1000 items will be auctioned in total.
Other collectibles of note include: Tiger Woods autographed driver, Bobby Jones autographed driver, young Tom Morris long nose putter (used from 1868-1872) and 2004 Open Championship winner Todd Hamilton’s solid gold PING B60 putter head.
“This will be our largest global auction to date,” said Ingle. “Golf memorabilia continues to grow in popularity and value. There are a variety of items being offered that suit the budget of any golf fan who is interested in investing in a piece of golf history.”
Registration is free and now open at www.thegolfauction.com. If you know anyone that would like to consign or inquire about possible golf items to auction, call Brad Roberts at 866-842-0268 or email brad@thegolfauction.com.
