Exclusive memorabilia to be auctioned from the Payne Stewart Collection
TAMPA, Fla. – Since 2009, The Golf Auction has specialized in a wide variety of exclusive golf memorabilia and collectibles. The company is excited to announce that select items from the collection of Payne Stewart will be exclusively presented in its upcoming auction, March 3rd–14th, 2021.
Payne Stewart won three major championships in his career, the last of which, the 1999 U.S. Open, occurred a few months before his unfortunate passing at the age of 42. Stewart represented the United States on five Ryder Cup teams and also played for the U.S. on three World Cup teams. For a large part of his career, Stewart was also known for his National Football League (NFL) sponsorship, and the unique golf attire (shirts, knickers, shoes and Ben Hogan caps) he wore in the team colors that matched the closest city near the tournament site where he was playing each week.
Coming directly from Payne Stewart’s family, this is the very first opportunity for worldwide collectors and fans alike to acquire a few items from the World Golf Hall of Famer’s incredible career.
“Over the years so many people have reached out to share how much Payne impacted their lives or the lives of their loved ones,” said Tracey Stewart, Stewart’s widow. “I am pleased to share these items as a reminder of how much Payne enjoyed golf, but even more, how much he enjoyed people. I hope these will become treasured mementos that will inspire and encourage people in the same way Payne lived his life.”
The online auction will launch on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021, and will come to an end on Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at 9:00 pm EST with extended bidding to follow. Unlike other sports memorabilia auction sites, The Golf Auction specializes only in golf-related memorabilia and collectibles. Golf memorabilia consigned to The Golf Auction receives exclusive exposure to ensure collectibles will receive a fair market value.
“Seldom does an auction house have the opportunity to present an intact collection from one of golf’s historic players like Payne Stewart,” said Brad Roberts, VP Sales, Marketing and Consignments. “Personal and professional items will be on full display for The Golf Auction’s worldwide audience for the March 2021 auction.”
A preview of the items for this event begins one week prior to the auction going live. Additional golf memorabilia and collectibles will also be available in the over 700 Lot Auction such as a rare Tiger Woods autographed 1997 Masters Embroidered Flag. Registration is free, and all bidders will receive email updates on various golf memorabilia that has been consigned to The Golf Auction.
The March 3rd – 14th auction is not limited to online bidding only; bidders can call in their bids as well. To buy, sell or consign golf memorabilia items, register online at www.thegolfauction.com or call The Golf Auction at 866-842-0268.
