Phoenix, AZ – Golf It Forward® continues to grow as it welcomes its newest board member, Pete Goebel.
Pete, an avid golfer and retired Payments (Visa/Mastercard) industry consultant, has devoted his life to promoting golf for all ages and genders through various golf-focused youth and charitable organizations. He is a volunteer and benefactor of LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix and the I GOT THIS Foundation and is an active participant with the Arizona Women’s Golf Advisory Council. As a volunteer coach with First Tee-Phoenix at Talking Stick Golf Club, he engages with a variety of programs and initiatives including Boys Camp, Girls Clubs and local Tribal organizations
“My wife Janny and I love golf, and we love seeing people thrive. Combining these two things through organizations who bring out the best in our youth, and our community, is a dream come true. Spending time developing, delivering, and supporting programs that make a difference, that create opportunity for kids everywhere, well, that’s where we want to spend our time and energy,” said Pete.
Pete and Jan further support organizations through their participation in special events. Earlier this year they were among the guests at the LPGA’s 75th Anniversary celebration at Pebble Beach, along with Debbie and Jack Waitkus. They have plans to play in the Epson Tour Carlisle Arizona Woman’s Golf Classic with I GOT THIS co-founder Amy Bockerstette in Scottsdale in May. Pete also supports the Arizona Caddie Leadership Academy, assisting with Evans Scholar development.
“Pete is a gift to junior golfers, lifting them up, encouraging them. He is a trusted resource and sounding board to many young ladies who applied for a Marilynn Smith Scholarship. Golf It Forward is blessed with his insights and enthusiasm as we forward opportunities in golf for girls, enabled by the 13 LPGA Founders,” said Golf It Forward President, Debbie Waitkus.
Pete began his relationship with Golf It Forward as a volunteer serving on the Scholarship Application Review and Pearls Committee. He and his wife Jan have shared 35 years of marriage, with more than 25 of those years in AZ. They spend summers in Columbiana, OH.
