GOLFTEC’s James Kinney Named 2018 Nebraska PGA Teacher of the Year
GOLFTEC – the world leader in golf lessons and premium club fittings – announces local franchise owner and renowned golf coach, James Kinney, received the 2018 Nebraska PGA Teacher of the Year Award.
This is Kinney’s sixth Nebraska PGA Teacher of the Year honor, having previously won in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2016. The award recognizes the PGA professional who has demonstrated overall performance in teaching. This includes implementation of unusual, innovative and special teaching programs progressed instruction through articles published; as well as progress made with marquee students.
“It’s a great honor to be recognized by my peers and all of the impressive coaches in this section,” says Kinney, six-time PGA Teacher of the Year. “This award is a testament to the team we have built over the years at GOLFTEC here in Omaha and the excellent work of all of our coaches.”
The Nebraska native’s journey to becoming one of the best instructors in the state began when he arrived at Omaha Country Club shortly after graduating from Creighton University in 2001. Kinney learned from head golf professional, Tony Pesavento, there is more to being a golf coach than thirty minutes at the range with a student.
“I talk to Tony more than my dad,” says Kinney. “He has been my mentor since day one and truly cares about people’s lives off the golf course. I try to bring that same responsibility and attentiveness each day at GOLFTEC.”
Kinney’s passion has led to six Teacher of the Year awards, and stand-out students such as Kaitlyn Hanna, who is a Drive, Chip & Putt Championship Finalist and Scott Gutschewski, two-time Web.com Tour winner. Their success reflects how GOLFTEC’s technology-focused approach to lessons helps golfers of all skill levels improve. Coaches measure every aspect of each player’s swing to identify exactly which areas need improvement.
The renowned, global GOLFTEC coaching team is comprised of experienced instructors, most of whom are PGA Professionals and have taught thousands of lessons. Each goes through a rigorous multi-week certification at GOLFTEC University including continued, advanced training to master the analysis of golf swing mechanics, the technology utilized by GOLFTEC and the most productive teaching techniques. Committed to strengthening the industry and hiring only the best staff, GOLFTEC is the largest employer of PGA Instructors in the world.
