GTAA’s “How to Produce a Successful Golf Tournament” Tops 250,000 in Sales and distribution, Climbs to No. 3 on All-Time Best-Selling Golf Books List

September 18, 2026

Book trails only Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book (1.1 million copies) and Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons (900,000 copies

The Golf Tournament Association of America (GTAA) today announced that its flagship guidebook, “How to Produce a Successful Golf Tournament,” has surpassed 250,000 copies sold, making it the No. 3 best-selling golf book of all time — trailing only Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book, which has sold 1.1 million copies, and Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons, with 900,000 copies sold.

The book serves as a comprehensive playbook for anyone planning a charity or corporate golf tournament, covering how to sell major sponsorships, fill a field with golfers, secure the best deal at the golf course, recruit and train volunteers, obtain gifts and prizes, and design formats, games and contests. It also walks readers through budgeting and timelines for every stage of tournament planning.

For more than 28 years, the GTAA has taught, trained, coached and consulted golf tournament planners at non-profits, corporations, churches, schools, civic groups and other organizations, helping them produce the best possible events. Through a partnership with Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the GTAA also offers a Certified Training Program leading to a “Certified Golf Tournament Planner” credential.

The GTAA’s past clients include, among many others:

American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Arthritis Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts of America, CARE, Catholic Charities, Children’s Miracle Network, City of Hope, Cure Autism Now, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Easter Seals, Girl Scouts, Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Operation Helping Hand, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Project Youth Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Rotary, Salvation Army, Shriners, The Smile Train, Toys for Kids Foundation, United Way, UNICEF, Volunteers of America, YMCA and Young Life.

Golf tournament planners interested in a complimentary e-version of the book can request a copy by contacting the GTAA directly.
