Newly created position strengthens Morton Golf’s merchandising and purchasing team as the company continues to expand its retail operations.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Morton Golf is pleased to announce the promotion of Aaron Lee to the newly created position of Assistant Buyer for the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop and Morton Golf’s family of golf facilities. The appointment represents another step in the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its retail operations, improving inventory management, and delivering an exceptional shopping experience to golfers throughout the Sacramento region.
Lee brings a diverse background in golf retail, club fitting, inventory management, and retail technology to his new position. He began his career in the golf industry at Golf Galaxy, where he developed his knowledge of golf equipment, club fitting, and customer service. Over the past three years, he has been an integral member of the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop team, working extensively in special orders, shipping and receiving, and inventory operations.
During that time, Lee distinguished himself through his attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional understanding of the systems that support one of the country’s largest on-course golf retail operations. Most notably, he played an instrumental role in the Super Shop’s transition to the Lightspeed point-of-sale and inventory management platform in 2025, helping the organization navigate the complexities of implementing a new retail technology system.
“Aaron has been one of those behind-the-scenes individuals who has made an enormous difference in the success of our retail operation,” said Ken Morton, Jr., Vice President of Retail and Marketing for Morton Golf. “His understanding of our inventory systems, his technical expertise, and his willingness to tackle challenges head-on were invaluable during our conversion to Lightspeed. He’s earned the respect of our entire team, and we’re incredibly excited to see him take this next step in his career.”
A Commitment to Professional Development
Beyond his accomplishments in retail operations, Lee is also investing in his long-term professional development within the golf industry. He recently successfully completed the PGA of America’s Playing Ability Test (PAT) and has begun his journey through the PGA’s Associate Program, working toward becoming a PGA Professional.
Simultaneously, Lee has enrolled in the Association of Golf Merchandisers’ (AGM) Certified Retail Manager (CRM) program, a professional development and certification initiative focused on advancing the skills and expertise of golf retail and merchandising professionals.
His pursuit of both credentials reflects a commitment to developing a well-rounded understanding of the golf business, combining expertise in the game itself with the specialized knowledge required to succeed in modern golf retail management.
“One of the things that impresses me most about Aaron is his desire to keep learning and improving,” Morton said. “He’s not content to simply be good at what he does today. He’s actively investing in his future through both the PGA and AGM educational programs. That kind of initiative is exactly what we want to encourage and support within our organization.”
A New Role Supporting Continued Retail Growth
As Assistant Buyer, Lee will work alongside Morton Golf’s existing purchasing team, including Ken Morton, Jr., Apparel Buyer Heather Hadley, and Accessories & Gifts Buyer Craig Sepulveda.
His responsibilities will span a wide range of merchandising and retail operations, including purchase order management, product setup and pricing, inventory analysis, vendor coordination, merchandise replenishment, and product assortment planning.
Lee will also play an important role in supporting the company’s satellite golf shops, coordinating inventory transfers and replenishment, assisting with merchandise displays and promotional pricing, and helping ensure that product information and inventory levels remain accurate across the company’s retail platforms.
Additionally, he will serve as a liaison between the buying team and the company’s e-commerce and marketing operations, helping communicate new product arrivals, promotional opportunities, and merchandise information for use across Morton Golf’s digital storefronts and customer communications.
The position is designed not only to provide additional support to the company’s growing retail operations but also to develop Lee’s purchasing and merchandising expertise, with opportunities to assume greater responsibility for individual merchandise classifications in the future.
“One of the things we’re most excited about is Aaron’s ability to bridge the gap between technology, inventory management, and the art of buying,” Morton added. “Great retail buying is about much more than selecting products. It’s about understanding your customers, managing inventory intelligently, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and making sure the right merchandise is available at the right time. Aaron already has an exceptional foundation in so many of those areas.”
Investing in People and the Future of Golf Retail
The creation of the Assistant Buyer position reflects Morton Golf’s continued investment in its retail team and its commitment to developing talented employees from within the organization.
With approximately 18,500 square feet of retail space, the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop offers an extensive selection of golf equipment, apparel, footwear, accessories, and specialized club-fitting services. Supporting an operation of that size requires an increasingly sophisticated approach to purchasing, inventory management, and merchandising.
Lee’s appointment will allow the existing buying team to expand its focus on product selection, vendor partnerships, merchandise strategy, and new opportunities for growth while strengthening the day-to-day execution of the company’s retail operations.
“We’ve always believed that some of our best opportunities for growth come from investing in the people who already understand our business and our culture,” Morton said. “Aaron is a terrific example of that philosophy. He’s proven himself through hard work, initiative, and a genuine passion for the golf industry. We’re thrilled to welcome him to our buying team and look forward to the contributions he’ll make for many years to come.”
