HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Hannah Green claimed her fourth LPGA Title at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in dramatic fashion, birdieing her final three holes, including a 27-foot putt on the 18th to seal the victory in her second start of the season. This win moves Green inside the Top 25 in the world and guarantees a spot in the LPGA Tournament of Champions.
Green’s impressive stretch on the back-nine was aided by her strong Iron play throughout the final round. She hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation on Sunday to shoot a 5-under 67 using a combination set of Srixon ZX Mk II Irons. She ranked near the top of the field in greens in regulation for the week.
“I knew there was potential for low scores with the course being softer today, but obviously you have to go out and do it,” she said. “Even earlier signing my scorecard I didn’t realize I shot 5-under, so it was really nice to finish that way.”
After an opening round 74, Green settled into the tournament with three straight rounds of 67. On Sunday, Green started two behind the leader, before making her big move on the back-nine. She becomes only the second Australian woman to win an HSBC Championship.
