ORLANDO, – A new “happy hour” is on the rise, and you can find it at a local public golf course near you. Spark Golf has created a better way to socialize, network and unwind on weekday evenings. Spark’s 9-hole league play is casual, co-ed and is taking over after 5pm tee times at more than 2,000 courses across the U.S. and Canada. Free to join, the Spark social golf community has grown to over 200,000 like-minded golfers of all skill levels.
The happy hour often continues after the final putt on the course and into the clubhouse or local favorite restaurant. The Spark app developed by Co-Founder and CTO, Paul Barry, allows players to register, pay and keep score all on their phone. It also has a new feature that promotes food and beverage sales for Spark course partners. It alerts players about details for the post-round happy hour and encourages them to hang out as part of the overall Spark experience. “Including a post-round gathering as part of the weekly Spark experience is a simple way to drive F&B revenue for our course partners while making it more fun and social for players. We’ve gotten feedback from many players that the happy hour is the best part of the night,” says Barry.
Co-Founder Matt Justine has also encouraged course partners to provide a drink or food special for league nights and says that the feedback is always positive when players get to extend their golf night to the 19th hole. Justine adds “We know that more people are working from home and looking for new ways to connect with others and network. Spark gets people outside, turning occasional golfers into on-course and happy hour regulars.”
