Winners Wear Cleats at Hero World Challenge, On European Tour

In the lead up to the President’s Cup in Australia, the professional golf world was focused on two exotic locations this week – the Bahamas and the island nation of Mauritius. In both the Hero World Challenge and the European Tour’s Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open, tournament winners chose cleats over spikeless footwear.

“As we reach the end of the calendar year, the message from the players on the pro tours is clear,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports. “The players winning events and finishing at or near the top of leaderboards are choosing the stability, traction and control of cleated footwear. On the PGA Tour alone, we’ll close out 2019 with 90 percent of tournament winners wearing cleats.”

At the Hero World Challenge, the event winner defeated a world-class field while wearing FootJoy® Icon footwear with Softspikes® Black Widow replaceable cleats. On the European Tour, the Afrasia Bank Maritius Open winner picked up his first career win at just 18 years old and while wearing adidas® Tour 360 XT footwear with Thintech EXP cleats.

Replacement Softspikes® and Champ® cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.

PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP® and Softspikes® brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.

CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.com and www.Softspikes.com.
