LAKE OZARK, MO. – HK’s 43rd Annual Golf Tournament Lake of the Ozarks Open, held in May at The Lodge of Four Seasons and The Club at Porto Cima in Lake Ozark, Missouri, raised more than $171,000 for Lake Regional Health Systems. The donation is the second largest in HK’s tournament history and bumps the total raised to support the expansion of health care services at Lake Regional to more than $3.17 million over the event’s 43 years.
HK’s Lake of the Ozarks Open concluded May 20 after two days of golf at The Cove golf course at The Lodge of Four Seasons and The Club at Porto Cima. The format was a best-ball competition with four-person teams. The first-place team shot 12 under par and included honorary tournament chairperson and former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dante Hall, Greg Hafif, Troy Schell, Brad Roling. Funds were raised through tournament sponsorships, entry fees, and virtual and live auctions. VIP tournament sponsors included Central Bank, The Lodge of Four Seasons, and Troon.
Tournament proceeds will support Lake Regional’s Commitment to Caring. Through this initiative, Lake Regional seeks to transform health care delivery for two vitally important services: heart care and cancer treatment services. To meet the growing needs of the region, Lake Regional plans to build a new Cardiac Institute and expanded Cancer Center.
In the early 1970s, a group of community-minded, lake-area residents realized the need for medical services to treat existing homeowners and the growing second homeowner, retiree and tourist populations. Then, the closest hospital was 50 miles away. Many people who suffered trauma, heart attacks or other serious health conditions did not survive because medical assistance was not immediately available. The Lodge of Four Seasons’ Founder Harold Koplar was one of the visionaries who believed the area needed a hospital. To help provide funding, the HK’s Annual Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament (named for Koplar) was established.
