September Presentation to Take Place at Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs

DENVER, CO  – The Robert Trent Jones Society will award its third annual Legacy Award to retired LPGA professional golfer and World Golf Hall of Fame member Hollis Stacy for contributions to the game of golf over herlifetime. Previous recipients were Al Geiberger and Lee Trevino.

Stacy was a highly successful amateur and LPGA golfer, capturing numerous honors leading to her three U.S. Women’s Open titles and 18 LPGA victories. Additionally, she won the du Maurier Classic, considered to be the fourth major for women’s golf in 1983. Since retiring from competitive golf Stacy has been actively involved in women’s golf, various charity causes, and advising on golf course design. She is one of only two women to win the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship three times.

David Cardwell, Executive Director of the Robert Trent Jones Society said, “The Legacy Award was established in Mr. Jones’ name to honor individuals whose lifetime is committed to expanding the game of golf. It is with great pleasure that we honor Hollis for her numerous contributions to the game, both on and off the course.”

“From my years of competition around the world, I have come to appreciate and respect the role that golf course architects play,” Stacy said. “The care and detail that designers like Mr. Jones brought to the game is to be celebrated.”

Stacy is scheduled to speak at this year’s Robert Trent Jones Society gathering at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where she will share her thoughts on expanding the game through more inclusive design and other initiatives. The Academy’s Blue Course at Eisenhower Golf Club opened in 1959 and is the only original Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout in the state of Colorado. The event is open to golfers from 40 Society member clubs worldwide.
