ACCLAIMED INDIANA COACH COLBY HUFFMAN TO APPEAR ON GOLF CHANNEL’S ‘MORNING DRIVE’
PGA teaching professional Colby Huffman, one of Golf Digest magazine’s “Best Teachers” in the state of Indiana for 2017-‘18, is scheduled to appear as a guest instructor on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 22.
The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET on Wednesday and 6-7:30 a.m. ET on Saturday.
Huffman, a lead coach at two Golf Channel Academy (GCA) locations in the Indianapolis area—Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood, and Correct2Compete’s indoor training facility in Zionsville—is one of the inaugural coaches in GCA, a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select GCA coaches are being invited to appear on Golf Channel’s news and instruction shows, including PGA Tour Champions Learning Center and School of Golf; Huffman is making his first appearance on Morning Drive.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to appear on Morning Drive”, said Huffman, the 2012 Indiana PGA Teacher of the Year. “It’s been a great experience to be a part of the Golf Channel Academy network of coaches, and I look forward to sharing some of my favorite lessons and game-management tips with the viewers at home.”
A Sport Performance Consultant for Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) and its athletes, Huffman directed the training and instruction for the men’s and women’s golf programs at IUPUI from 2011-’17. During that time, he was the only NCAA coach from Indiana on Golf Digest’s “Best Teachers” list.
Huffman’s contributions to IUPUI golf have translated into several record-breaking performances for the Jaguars’ teams, including some of the lowest NCAA scores in the country for NCAA Division I schools. He has been authenticated with LPGA and PGA Instructor Credentials and has coached players at both LPGA and PGA major championships. Huffman has written articles for numerous publications and authored three books, including the Amazon bestseller, “Train for Golf Like an Olympian.”
Previously, Huffman served as a lead instructor for the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (2007-’09) while Haney was teaching Tiger Woods. He also worked with Gary Gilchrist at the International Junior Golf Association (IJGA) as Director of Training, as well as the David Leadbetter Golf Academy. There, Huffman worked with many top-ranked juniors and LPGA standouts, as well as the South Korean Girls National Team (ranked the No. 1 National Team in the world at the time). He has developed eight Junior All-Americans while one of his juniors achieved the No. 1 World Ranking via Golfweek and AJGA’s junior rankings.
