LPGA Champion Angela Stanford Joins in Honoring Whitworth’s Enduring Legacy
Trophy Club, TX — A night of inspiration awaits at the inaugural Kathy Whitworth 88 Gifting Gala on September 27 at Trophy Club Country Club, where LPGA star Angela Stanford—2018 major champion, six-time Solheim Cup competitor, and newly appointed captain of the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup team—will share how Kathy Whitworth’s unwavering support shaped her career and empowered countless young women. The gala, honoring what would have been Whitworth’s 86th birthday, celebrates the legacy of golf’s winningest professional while fueling the future through the KW 88 Gift Award, which supports young women pursuing their LPGA dreams.
“This is a celebration of Kathy Whitworth’s legacy as well as a commitment to the future,” says Bettye Odle, Kathy Whitworth’s partner and chairwoman of the Kathy Whitworth Foundation. “That’s the spirit of the Kathy Whitworth 88 Gifting Gala.”
Proceeds from the evening will benefit the KW 88 Gift Award, an initiative supporting young women striving to reach the professional ranks of the LPGA.
The event will feature a cocktail hour sponsored by Anne Parton/Independence Bourbon, a company that has distilled a special bourbon honoring Kathy Whitworth’s 88 wins. The appetizer reception will be followed by a multi-course dinner, reflections on Kathy’s extraordinary life, and honoring the next generation of women’s golf.
