Scottsdale, Ariz. – Indigo Sports, a Troon Company, is pleased to announce it has been selected to manage Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe, a 27-hole municipal golf facility in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Indigo Sports will manage the golf operations, agronomy, retail, food and beverage, and sales and marketing.
On January 10, 2024, the City of Santa Fe Governing Body approved a four-year contract with Troon to manage and operate the Links de Santa Fe and all related facilities, beginning February 1, 2024. Links de Santa Fe features an 18-hole Baxter Spann-designed championship course that plays to a par of 72 and measures 7,272 from the tips, as well as a 9-hole Spann-designed executive length golf course named “The Great 28.” Ranked as one of the best 9-hole courses in the country and named one of the “Top 5 Big Little Courses in the U.S.” by Travel + Leisure magazine, The Great 28 is perfect for practicing short game or a quick round of golf.
2024 marks the Links de Santa Fe’s 25th anniversary and the City will soon unveil a new logo reflecting the course’s rich history and continued commitment to excellence. The introduction of the new logo symbolizes a renewed dedication to providing a unique and superior golf experience for residents and visitors alike. The logo’s design blends hints of the city’s rich cultural heritage with the natural beauty of the golf course and was developed in consultation with key stakeholders and long-time users of the course from the local community.
“Santa Fe has always been a great place to live, work, visit, and play. Now, with the world-class golf course operator, Troon, partnering with the City, our outstanding Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe is poised to show off for residents and visitors alike,” said City of Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber. “Santa Fe has a lot to be proud of, and our golf course is such a great gem, the future looks like a hole-in-one!”
Links de Santa Fe is located eight miles west of the historical downtown district and boasts 360-degree mountain views and the beautiful high-desert landscape. In addition to 27 holes of golf, guests enjoy a well-stocked golf shop, The Links Bar & Grill, a driving range, a practice putting green, and a short game area.
“Working with the onsite managers and team, we are excited for the opportunity to enhance the experience at Links de Santa Fe,” said Troon Regional Director of Operations Bill Colgan. “The staff is committed to providing great service and improving course conditions in 2024 and beyond. We look forward to welcoming Santa Fe residents and numerous visitors this golf season.”
Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe is named after Santa Fe native Marty Sanchez. Marty was the son of Lee Sanchez, Jr., a man whose love for golf was passed along to all four of his children. By grade school, Marty was winning tournaments all over New Mexico, and by high school, he was a star golfer at Santa Fe High, earning a scholarships to New Mexico Junior College and Western New Mexico University. After college, Marty moved back to Santa Fe and began learning the basics of course management. Sadly, in 1992 at the age of 25, Sanchez died of cancer. Shortly after Marty’s passing, former Santa Fe Mayor Sam Pick promised the Sanchez family that the City would one day name a golf course after Marty. In 1998, Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe opened for play and Pick’s promise was fulfilled.
