A New Breed of Premium Golf is Arriving in France

June 29, 2026

You don’t expect to find it here. Between the châteaux and the vineyards, in a city that has spent centuries perfecting the art of a good evening, a new kind of golf venue is taking shape. Bordeaux has always known that the best experiences aren’t rushed, that the right setting, the right food, the right company can turn an ordinary day or night into something worth remembering. Barena, opening 30 June was built on exactly that instinct.

The design brief was a single image explained by Co-owner and operator Antoine Olive “When you are in the bay, it’s a driving range bay for sure, but it can also be a good terrace in Milano,a nice rooftop in New York or a beach club in Ibiza.”

That image drove every decision.

  • A Paris architecture firm to design the build.
  • Custom-built fittings throughout.
  • A 1,600m² building across two levels; with restaurant and panoramic rooftop.
  • 44 hitting bays with market-leading technology

Not a warehouse with aspirations, a destination that happens to have bays.

The specifications follow the same logic. Srixon one-piece white balls, a chef, Patrice Schildowski, whose CV runs through the Dior restaurants by Yannick Alléno in Paris and One&Only The Palm in Dubai. At night, video projectors mounted on 30-metre pylons map immersive graphics across the 9,000m² playing field. The range becomes a production.

The typical entertainment model runs on footfall and turnover. Barena is making a different bet: that a venue genuinely worth returning generates more revenue per guest, across more visits, than one that exhausts its novelty in a single evening.

The technology reflects the same thinking. After evaluating the market, Barena chose Inrange, dismissing Toptracer as dated and Trackman as built only for professional performance. Inrange stood out for being best in class across both serious golf and social play. Serious shot tracking and data for the players who want it. An entertainment experience that keeps mixed groups coming back.

The platform’s skill-rebalancing means beginners and experienced players compete on equal terms in the same game. Groups stay together, The evening holds.

The social suite goes further, more games than any other platform on the market, and a bay vs bay feature that lets the operator run whole facility bookings for a single group. The kind of format that turns a corporate evening into a full Barena production.
