Golf Business Technology hosted over 150 golf leaders in Belfast to focus on how technology is shaping the industry

[Belfast, UK] The biggest tech brands in golf gathered last week in the town that is busy gearing up to welcome hundreds of thousands of tourists to Royal  Portrush Golf Club for The Open Championship in July.

Organised by Aboo Tayub, the founder of Golf Business Technology,  the event brought together leaders from major golf businesses like Inrange, GolfNow, NGCOA, Trackman, Burhill Golf and Leisure, Carr Golf Group, GEO Foundation and Toptracer for 3 days of information sharing and industry shaping seminars. The highlight no doubt was a keynote speech by Sir Nick Faldo – who spoke about non-traditional ways to experience the game and shared his favourite memories along his illustrious career.

The event was the first-ever golf conference in Europe solely dedicated to golf technology and where the industry is succeeding and where there remains work to be done. Both Inrange co-founder Nick Longley and Global Brand Manager Ian Blunt were invited to speak at the event and after being there shared some insight from it.

“It was great to collaborate with top industry leaders at the event and more importantly start conversations about where the most exciting revenue opportunities are right now” – Nick Longley

“It’s clear that every tech brand cares about their customer or end user, but there is still a strong industry bias towards only one segment of the market (traditional golfers) and if that’s not addressed through smart tech innovations, businesses will continue to limit their success ” – Ian Blunt

The early whispers are that the event will be brought back to Belfast for a 2nd edition in 2026 with all details still to be decided and announced at a later point in time.
