– An exceptional course and world-class field combine to make the Asian Tour’s next stop unmissable –
Tanah Merah Country Club, Singapore – The International Series returns to Singapore for its second outing in the Lion City following the inaugural edition in 2022. Taking place from 5-8 October, Singapore marks yet another International Series event with an exhilarating fan experience, world-class golf and much, much more. The reasons to attend this top-class tournament are aplenty.
Fun in the fan zone
International Series Singapore promises music and fun for the entire family. Fans will be able to easily access the course and fan village with a free shuttle service to and from Tanah Merah Country Club and Changi City Point.
With the fan village filled to the brim with culinary pleasures and areas to mingle all set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most famous cities, it should not be missed.
Terrific Tampines Course
The rolling hills, large greens and island holes of the Tampines Course at Tanah Merah Country Club present a significant challenge. Spectators have the chance to watch some of the best golfers in the world tackle a course that challenges even the most decorated professionals.
Meticulously designed by Phil Jacobs, the Tampines Course is framed by stunning natural landscapes surrounded by lush greenery and offers breath-taking views of the Singapore skyline making it a great place to witness some top-tier golf played by some of the most talented golfers from across the globe.
LIV Golf players in the pack
International Series Singapore also promises fans the chance to watch major winners from the LIV Golf League roster.
2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, and the 2010 US Open winner Graeme McDowell, alongside previous Ryder Cup gladiator Bernd Wiesberger are among the pack looking to depart from Tanah Merah Country Club triumphant.
Four of the LIV players appearing in Singapore had impressive top-15 finishes at the most recent LIV Golf event in Chicago, including Richard Bland (T9) Carlos Ortiz (T11) and Scott Vincent (T14).
Local talent looking to make waves
Of the 144 golfers hailing from 28 different countries, 16 spots have been secured by local talents, all of whom are eager to capitalise on the home advantage in their quest for a maiden International Series title.
James Leow, the Tanah Merah Country Club ambassador, is one of the Singapore locals participating, having begun his professional career at the same event in 2022.
Also making an appearance is a previous Singapore Masters Champion and first Singaporean ever to win on the Asian Tour, Mardan Mamat. The 55-year-old will be looking for glory once again, 17 years after he beat Englishman Nick Dougherty by one stroke in 2006.
Watch the crucial next steps of Andy Ogletree
The International Series 2023 Order of Merit number one, Andy Ogletree finds himself ahead of the pack by some way and a win in Singapore would help further secure his passage to the ultra-lucrative LIV Golf League.
The three-time International Series champion has had a stormer of a season in 2023. Convincing wins in England and Qatar, backed up by three top-10 finishes prove the Georgia Tech Alumni is not fazed by the big stage.
Spectators at Tanah Merah will have the chance to witness the ruthless 25-year-old first-hand as he continues on his pathway to greatness in professional golf.
The very best from the Asian Tour
The Asian Tour boasts some of golf’s brightest talents as The International Series offers its members the chance to play for bigger purses and compete alongside the world’s best.
Ones to watch:
Nitithorn Thippong – last year’s champion will be looking to defend his crown at Tanah Merah and use his later win at the Mandiri Indonesia Open in August as motivation to propel him to the top of the leaderboard in Singapore this week.
Gunn Charoenkul – as the highest ranked Thai player in the International Series Order of Merit, Gunn will be looking for more invaluable points to edge him closer to the top and put himself in good stead for the Promotions Event at the end of the 2023 season.
Taichi Kho – the 22-year-old Hong Kong native and Asian Tour rookie has already notched up one win in his flourishing career at the World City Championship in March and recently earned a gold medal in the men’s individual golf event at the Asian Games over the weekend.
A trio of brothers
The International Series Singapore will be a family affair for a staggering three sets of brothers in the field. What is even more astonishing, is that this marks the second occurrence of three brothers playing in an International Series event in 2023 after the Koepka, Vincent and Ortiz siblings teed up in Oman in February.
Aussie brothers Jediah and Lincoln Morgan – the latter was victorious at the Singapore Open Amateur Championship in July, while ‘Jed’ is a member of LIV Golf’s all-Australian Ripper GC.
Mexico’s Carlos and Alvaro Ortiz will also do battle in Singapore, playing together for the first time since International Series Oman.
International Series star Kieran Vincent and his brother Scott, who currently plays on LIV, complete the unusual triumvirate. Scott famously earned his place in the LIV Golf League 2023 by winning The International Series 2022 Order of Merit, while Kieran secured his first professional victory at International Series Vietnam and currently sits third in the 2023 standings.
