Golf entities unite to build connective tissue between college coaches, and juniors and parents.
LOS ANGELES, California – The College Golf Experience (CGX), an education company exclusively endorsed by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), announces a new partnership with the Iowa PGA. This partnership provides Iowa PGA’s Junior Tour members and their parents the opportunity for unprecedented access to college coaches and education about collegiate golf and the recruiting process.
“This partnership will help lead the Iowa PGA’s 1,000+ Junior Tour players and their families down a path to finding their fit and their spot in college golf,” said CGX CEO Joshua Jacobs. “Our goal, working in tandem with the Iowa PGA, is to create Tournament Showcase Camps, Tournament Preview Camps and education events in Iowa and Western Illinois that bring together college coaches, players and parents to break down the college golf education barrier.”
CGX has developed five different types of camps: Elite Camps hosted by a single college/university run by men’s and/or women’s coaches, Preview Camps on the front end of a junior golf tournament at the same site as the tournament, and Geographical Tournament Showcase Camps focusing on programs in specific regions, hosted at a tournament site with men’s and women’s coaches in all divisions.
In addition, CGX has developed Top100 Camps geared toward the highly ranked player who wants to meet, engage, and learn from top ranked programs and coaches, and Ivy Golf Institute / DIII Elite Camps geared toward juniors who excel academically and athletically and are looking for an academic-focused college golf experience.
CGX camps are for young men and women ages 12-18. The camp agenda encompasses (depending on the camp type): 30-40 percent education seminars with college coaches on all-things college golf and the pathway to get there. This includes an open Q&A session On-course engagement with college coaches learning course management and strategy including real-time feedback comprises 40-50 percent of the camp. Then, 10-20 percent of the camp covers skill development and challenges with college coaches. This operates similarly to how college programs run their golf practices. Parents are invited to participate and engage every step of the way at the camps.
CGX and Iowa PGA will also co-develop joint marketing efforts, to promote camps and sectional junior tour events together while helping to build awareness among junior golfers and their parents on how to achieve their goals.
“The Iowa PGA is thrilled to partner with College Golf Experience. Navigating the world of junior and college golf can be complex and tedious, but CGX’s camp experiences which incorporate college golf coaches makes the journey less daunting. We look forward to our extended partnership with CGX in providing those opportunities to the members of our Iowa PGA Junior Tour.” – Tess Goudy, PGA – Iowa PGA Assistant Executive Director/Junior Golf Director.
