Jerry Kelly’s final round 67 led him to a T-2 finish at the PGA Tour Champions Mitsubishi Electric Classic
(Jacksonville, FL) – Jerry Kelly secured yet another top 5 finish after his final round 67 put him in a T-2 position at last week’s Mitsubishi Electric Classic at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth Georgia. This marks the 2nd time in 5 events Kelly finished in the top three. Closing with two birdies to put the pressure on McCarron down the stretch, Jerry finished with a solid 1.76 putts per GIR. While he and his playing partner (Steve Stricker) had to withdraw from the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic, Kelly will look to pick back up with the PGA Tour Champions this week at the Insperity Invitational in The Woodlands, Texas.
Each week Cure Putters continues to contend on Tour. Kelly has been rolling a Cure CX1 since 2017 when he captured the PGA Tour Champions Rookie of the Year honors, but recently went to a new model. “I was excited to put a new Cure model in the bag in Georgia and I think that showed with my finish. I switched from the CX1 to the new TourX1 and was immediately comfortable. Should be a great week out in Texas.”
“We were happy to see Jerry in Biloxi and get some time on the putting green together”, said Jim McCarthy, CEO of Cure Putters. “Jerry tested out some of our new models and immediately put the TourX1 in play for the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. We are looking forward to watching him contend for the 2019 Schwab Cup Trophy!”
