June 10, 2023

HARTFORD – SwingU, the sports technology and media company, would like to congratulate SwingU Ambassador JJ Grey for qualifying for this week’s United States Open at Los Angeles Country Club.

Grey, a professional playing on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Canada who trains under SwingU Coach client Chad Phillips, started using the SwingU App and its proprietary Strokes Gained and stat tracking system in February 2021. He has logged more than 170 rounds on the system.

On May 1, Grey advanced through U.S. Open Local Qualifying with a 2-under par 68 at Eagle’s Landing Golf Club in Stockbridge, Ga., in which he gained +3.5 strokes vs. par off the tee and another +2.5 strokes approaching the green.

On June 5, Grey qualified for the U.S. Open thanks to rounds of 64 and 69 in the 36-hole Final Qualifier at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Ga. Over his two rounds, Grey gained +4.0 strokes vs. par off the tee, +5.6 strokes approaching the green and +4.5 strokes on the greens.

“SwingU has helped me identify areas of my game that need improvement, but more importantly, for this qualifier, it showed me my strengths, which gave me a lot of confidence going into the day,” Grey said. “My biggest area of improvement was putting, specifically from 6-10 feet. I used this information to focus more of my prep and practice in this area, which undoubtedly paid off.

“Furthermore, having a precise golf course GPS to explore the course and come up with a game plan even before the practice round helped me feel prepared.”

Grey will make his major championship debut in the U.S. Open on Thursday, June 15.

Since the start of 2021, more than 100 active professional and top-tier collegiate golfers have been using the SwingU App and Strokes Gained platform to track their advanced statistics and game-improvement data.
