LAS VEGAS, NV – Joe Noriega, general manager of the Mr Tree division of Pro Turf International, recently attained certification as Board Certified Master Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture.
The Mr Tree tree service division of PTI was added in 2020 as part of PTI ‘s growth initiative and has proven to be an integral part of the organizational diversification and dominance in delivering high quality service to their clients.
Mr Tree is primarily a residential and HOA service driven organization but their staff of master Arborist Joe Noriega, Plant Health Care (PHC) specialist Arborist Noah Gerhardt and PHC Arborist technician Shane Eldred lead their team of tree service professionals to perform excellent tree care throughout the Las Vegas and Henderson communities. This diversity of knowledge and experience enhance the depth of offerings the Mr Tree division brings to the PTI family.

Noriega, current president of the Southern Nevada Arborist Group, earned his arborist certification about 10 years ago. He has become one of the most respected arborists in all of the southwest USA. And he is very happy with the PTI relationship.
“Tree work is not mindless labor,” said Noriega. “You have to have some skill, so it has always been a challenge to find the right manpower. PTI has a great human resources department, so I’m getting more assistance on the support side and that really helps us in bringing in the right people.”
The Las Vegas region can be a challenging area for tree care.
“Las Vegas is a unique place,” said Noriega. “The population development here is only about 30 years old, so you don’t have institutional knowledge from generations of tree work. Plus, the trees are desert-type varieties – smaller and wide spreading. So a lot of the guys in Vegas who call themselves tree guys are actually palm guys.
“Dealing with palms is far different from trying to pull down a large tree. There is a science to that, dealing with roping, directions, etc. As an arborist, my standard for proper technique, things like how much of the tree to take – the science behind it all – is pretty high. Getting guys trained right is extremely important. That’s another reason people like the work we do. We deliver quality. The customers know we’re not going to go in and butcher their property.”
The customers are not shy about sharing their experiences with Noriega and Mr. Tree.
