-John’s golfing marathon helps support these organizations and their missions-
OCEANSIDE, CA. – John Ashworth, golf apparel innovator, Co-Founder and President of Linksoul and operator of Goat Hill Park, completed his goal to walk and compete on 108 golf holes at the Goat Hill Park Golf Course over two weeks. The goal was to raise $50,000 for the non-profit organizations – North County Junior Golf Association (NCJGA) and Goat Hill Park Caddie and Leadership Academy. The donation links have been extended to meet and surpass the initial goal.
“I extend my gratitude for those who have contributed to these programs and have already donated,” said Ashworth. “For those who missed it, there are still a couple of weeks to help.”
These programs are making a dramatic difference in the lives of kids in the community between the ages of 13 to 18. There are over five hundred kids in NCJGA and twenty-five are selected for the Caddie and Leadership Academy. And now, because the Caddie Academy is now an approved Evans Scholarship Caddie Program both girls and boys are in line to qualify for a full ride college scholarships. “This is a game changer and a huge opportunity for our local kids now. We have an excellent group of new kids in the Academy with lots of opportunity ahead, but we need your help!”

“This year marks the second annual marathon match between me and Al Geiberger Jr. who helped hole by hole to raise money. This year he clipped me 3 & 1 on the 107th hole. Well played Al Jr. Rematch next year. He and I agree, there is no better cause than paying it forward to future generations.”
Ashworth annually takes on the 108-golf hole challenge to raise money for the NCJGA, a 501.c.3 non-profit that runs its program at Goat Hill Park in Oceanside. Founders David & Marcia Emerick are enthusiastic about growing the game in our youth, and instilling values and skills in children that will help them excel far beyond the game of golf. David Emerick, PGA, hosts junior clinics, private lessons, and the NCJGA tournament series.
Goat Hill Park’s Caddie & Leadership Academy provides a paid working opportunity for kids ages 13 to 18 to learn and understand the game of golf by becoming a caddie. This program will teach valuable communication and leadership skills that are beneficial for life. Throughout the summer, caddies will be assigned a “loop,” or a job to caddie for a player on a weekend or a variety of events, such as private tournaments, member monthly medals, golf leagues, and weekly skins games. Goat Hill Park’s Caddie & Leadership Academy strives to provide kids with a positive work ethic and lifelong people skills, while continuing to grow the game of golf. We are extremely excited to announce that Goat Hill Park’s Caddie & Leadership Academy has been accredited by the Evans Scholarship Foundation. When caddies meet the requirements to qualify, they will have an opportunity to earn a full college scholarship!
