Three-time Tour winner to Host Podcast and More…
Charlotte, N.C. – 5 Clubs announced today that three-time PGA Tour Winner, JOHNSON WAGNER, will join its multi-media golf platform as a contributor and will host and co-host podcasts beginning in March. Wagner has previously been a guest multiple times on 5 Clubs with host Gary Williams.
“My transition from playing the PGA Tour to being a golf analyst has been so much smoother than I could have imagined,” said Wagner. “I’ve had an absolute blast with both NBC Golf and PGA Tour Live and I’m honored and thrilled that the 5 Clubs brand has asked me to be a part of their incredible team. I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a podcast for a couple of years now, and to be able to work with a legend like Gary (Williams) is more than I could have dreamed of.”
Wagner continued, “I’ve made a lot of friends in my time as a professional golfer and in addition to my Tour friends, my guests will include musicians and athletes from various sports. I love to hear stories of what golf brings to their lives and find their perspectives on the game fascinating. And as a golf architecture nut, I’m also excited to hear about their favorite courses and designers and dive into that as part of the game as well.”
Wagner joins a growing 5 Clubs team roster with co-founding partner Williams, golf course architect Gil Hanse, ESPN broadcaster Jay Bilas and collegiate golfer Emma Carpenter (University of Minnesota).
“Johnson is a significant addition to our team,” said Williams. “We have aspired to have a collection of viewpoints that see the game from all perspectives. As a three-time winner on the PGA Tour he’s seen the game and achieved at the highest level. Beyond that he has earned the respect of his peers for his unwavering professionalism. As he embarks on the next phase of his career with Golf Channel and PGA Tour Live, and now his own show on 5 Clubs, viewers and listeners will get to hear his insights on issues in the game, his love for golf course design and his thoughts on the players and the biggest stages in the game. 5 Clubs just got better with Johnson on our team.”
Wagner sat down for a one-on-one conversation with Williams back in August of 2022 and joined Williams and SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio’s Taylor Zarzour to preview the 2023 PGA Tour season in January of this year. Those shows can be viewed here: Johnson Wagner Podcast 2023 PGA Tour Preview Show
