Trophy Club, TX — On Saturday, September 27, the doors of Trophy Club Country Club will open to an evening where elegance meets inspiration: the inaugural Kathy Whitworth 88 Gifting Gala.

Set amid the rolling greens of two legendary courses—one honoring Ben Hogan, the other named for Kathy Whitworth—Trophy Club provides a setting as refined as the woman it celebrates. Frequently recognized as one of the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s outstanding clubs, its sweeping views and gracious interiors will offer the perfect canvas for this unforgettable evening.
The celebration commemorates what would have been Kathy’s 86th birthday. It begins at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception in the Kathy Whitworth Trophy Room lined with the gleaming trophies and medals that tell the story of Whitworth’s unmatched 88 LPGA Tour victories. Guests will sip on Independence Bourbon—provided by Anne Parton in honor of Kathy. They will also enjoy selections from a wine and beer bar. Attendees will mingle to the music Kathy Whitworth loved most, a curated playlist that contains multiple genres, including songs by the legendary Tina Turner as well as timeless ballads by Kathy’s dear friend, Johnny Mathis.
At 7:00 p.m., guests will move into the Whitworth Ballroom for a four-course dinner designed by Chef Martin, each course inspired by Kathy’s favorite flavors. The evening will culminate with a signature dessert: warm peach cobbler crowned with Independence Bourbon–infused whipped cream. Live music will be provided by Willy Lane during the dinner.
The evening’s program will blend celebration with reflection. Guests will hear from Angela Stanford—LPGA major champion, Solheim Cup veteran, and captain of the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup team—who will share exciting information about the upcoming 2026 Solheim Cup in the Netherlands. She will also talk about how Kathy Whitworth influenced her own journey and how she continues to empower the next generation of women in golf.
“Kathy’s life was about lifting others as much as it was about her own victories,” says Bettye Odle, Whitworth’s partner and chairwoman of the Kathy Whitworth Foundation. “The gala embodies her spirit—celebrating her legacy while investing in the future.”
Proceeds from the gala benefit the KW 88 Gift Award, a program offering vital financial support to young women pursuing their LPGA dreams—just as Whitworth herself was once supported at the start of her career.
This inaugural gala, hosted by the KW 88 Gala Committee and presented in partnership with Red River Junior Golf, Inc., promises an evening that is both celebratory and deeply meaningful—a rare opportunity to honor a legend while shaping the future of the game she loved.
