ALBANY, NY. – The Northeastern New York Section of the PGA of America recently named the 2021 NENY PGA Special Award Winners. Kay McMahon, President of eduKaytion Golf and creator of Golf 8.5, has been awarded Teacher of the Year for the Northeastern NY section. This is the fourth time McMahon has been recognized by the section (most recently in 2016).
McMahon has been a member of the the LPGA Professionals since 1979. She has been an innovator in teaching the golf swing for more than 30 years.
In 2002, McMahon established eduKaytion Golf based in Albany, N.Y. and Orlando, Fla. She is the creator of Golf 8.5, a simple approach to learning and improving your golf swing. Golf 8.5 identifies 8.5 steps to a classic and consistent golf swing.
“I believe that the traditional way of teaching golf causes people to think that ‘golf is hard’, said McMahon. “With a degree in education, it has been my lifelong approach to make the golf swing simple and easy to learn. Golf 8.5 teaches golfers four steps in the set-up and 4.5 positions in the swing. That’s it.”
McMahon has received numerous awards and accolades during her teaching career. She is a member of the LPGA Professionals Hall of Fame and is a past National President. She has also been designated as one of the LPGA’s Elite Four swing instructors out of more than 1,800 worldwide.
“It is my mission and passion to grow the game by accelerating the learning process and having golfers experience more success, more quickly,” said McMahon. “It is an honor to be recognized with this award by my distinguished peers and fellow instructors in the Northeastern New York Section.”
A total of 14 awards including Golf Professional and Assistant Golf Professional of the Year were announced. The 2021 NENY PGA Special Award Winners will be celebrated for their achievements at an awards banquet set for November 10,2022.
