ALBANY, NY. – The Northeastern New York PGA Section hosted an awards banquet to celebrate the NENY PGA Special Awards on November 10, 2022, at Albany Country Club. Kay McMahon, President of eduKaytion Golf and creator of Golf 8.5, has been again recognized as Teacher of the Year for 2021 which is her fourth time being honored. The NENY PGA Teacher of the Year Award bestows special recognition on a PGA Golf Professional who has performed outstanding services as a golf teacher and coach among the ranks of PGA membership.
Also recognized was Rich Scott, Honorary President of the NENY PGA Section, as the NENY PGA Section Professional of the Year. Scott served as President from 2020-2022 and is currently serving as Honorary President until 2024.
McMahon has been an active Class A member of the PGA of America since 1986 and an LPGA Professionals member since 1979 and has been teaching golf for more than 30 years. In 2002, she established eduKaytion Golf based in Albany, N.Y. and Orlando, Fla. She is the creator and innovator of Golf 8.5 – a simple approach to learning and improving your golf swing.
Golf 8.5 identifies and teaches golfers 8.5 steps to a classic and consistent swing. McMahon has received numerous awards and accolades during her distinguished teaching career and is a past National President of the LPGA Professionals. She has also done extensive work in training instructors for Fairways for Warriors. Using Golf 8.5 as the core swing program for their various clinics and webinars, Fairway for Warriors utlizes golf as an avenue for healing, hope and camaraderie for combat wounded veterans and their families.
