The Red Label dominated the field at the Mizuho Americas Open by taking the Top Spot and had 6 players finish in the Top 8. 2 of those 6 players finished in 2nd and 3rd place. The Winner had KBS PGI 90 shafts in her Callaway irons. The other 6 players trusted KBS PGI 80 and Tour Lite shafts in their clubs. All 7 players came into the final round on Sunday with a chance at the victory, but the real battle was between a young 21-year-old phenom and 31-year-old LPGA Tour veteran. The 21-year-old shot an impressive 65 on Saturday to give her the lead going into the final round. She would have to keep her foot on the gas to overtake the tough competition. She played a steady front nine, but we need to make some birdies on the back to stay ahead. Her 31-year-old opponent gained some momentum on hole 15 with a bridie opportunity.
The other KBS player was stuck in the bunker and would need a great shot to save par. To the everyone’s surprise, she hit a beautiful shot to 3 feet to save par. Her opponent not only missed her birdie putt, but missed another putt for par to drop to 3 strokes back. She was never able to regain composure and the young KBS player went on to birdie the 17th and par the 18th holes to claim the victory. Her victory at the Mizuho Americas Open was her 5th on the LPGA Tour. The young phenom said, “I know that a lot of putts didn’t drop on the front nine, but I’m trying to do my best. I was just trying to tell myself, ‘Be patient, it’s coming, it’s coming.’ That’s pretty much what I told myself today.” Congratulations go out to the Winner and all the players in the field at the Mizuho Americas Open! | PLAYER DRIVEN.
