The Red Label found itself in the top spot at the Tulum Championship after an impressive final round performance. The winner had KBS $-Taper 130 shafts in his Mizuno irons and KBS 610 shafts in his wedges. Coming into the event the young KBS player was seeking his first victory on the Korn Ferry Tour. Thursday, he started his campaign with a decent round of 71, but quickly improved the next round with a solid score of 67. Saturday, he struggled to get going and had to settle for a 73. The final round on Sunday would be the ultimate test because he had now fallen 4 strokes behind the leader. Sunday, he got off to a quick start with 4 birdies in a row on holes 2 through 5. Unfortunately, he made 3 costly bogeys on 3 out of the 4 last holes on the front nine to remain behind the leader. He regained his momentum on the back nine with clutch birdies on holes 12 and 16. He also went on to make birdie on the last hole to make the playoff. On the first playoff hole both players made par. The second playoff hole was followed with another par from the KBS player, but luckily his opponent made a bogey to hand him over the victory. This win at the Tulum Championship would be the KBS players first victory in only 50 starts. He now sits in the 16th spot on the Korn Ferry Tour rankings, which gives himself a legitimate chance at receiving his PGA Tour card at the end of the year.
