KEISER GOLF COACHING CENTER TESTIMONIAL BOB YELLAR

September 3, 2024

Bob Yeller, a retired pharmacist and Marine reservist, shares his inspiring journey of taking up golf at the age of 70. Now approaching 84, Bob reflects on how his skills have dramatically improved over the past three years, thanks to the guidance of his instructors, Peter and Katongo, at Keiser University’s Golf Coaching Center.

Bob credits Katongo for teaching him the importance of swinging easily instead of trying to overpower the ball. This approach has not only helped him hit the ball farther but also with greater accuracy. Bob’s love for the game and his continued improvement keep him coming back, and he plans to keep enjoying the sport for years to come.

Katongo Chama Shares Her Journey to a Master’s in Golf Teaching and Learning

Katongo Chama shares her experience as she graduates with a Master’s in Golf Teaching and Learning from Keiser University College of Golf. She reflects on how fate led her to this program after seeing the college’s commercials on social media. With a passion for golf sparked by her family’s influence and a previous career in finance, Katongo decided to pursue her dream of working in the golf industry.

In her golf bag, Katongo is a loyal Titleist fan, with T100 irons and a TSR driver, complemented by a Mizuno putter. She emphasizes the importance of a strong short game, honed from years of practice with her brothers and father.

Katongo fondly recounts the support she received from the College of Golf faculty, particularly Dr. Wilson, who provided early morning lessons to accommodate her busy schedule. Mr. Turner also played a crucial role in her development, offering feedback and guidance both online and in person.

She dreams of playing the Old Course, a goal she hopes to achieve after the pandemic disrupted her plans. Katongo advises new students in the master’s program to take full advantage of the wealth of resources and research available, emphasizing the opportunities to learn and grow as a golf instructor.

As she graduates, Katongo celebrates how the program has transformed her career path, enabling her to work full-time in the golf industry—a field she is truly passionate about.
