Management company to enhance guest experience and improve food & beverage offerings to better serve the local community
NORTHBROOK, ILLINOIS – KemperSports announced today that it has been selected by the City of North Richland Hills, Texas, to manage Iron Horse Golf Course. As part of the partnership, KemperSports will continue elevating the player experience at Iron Horse through its proprietary TrueService™ customer service training program and enhance the food and beverage offerings and event programming to better serve city residents.
“Iron Horse Golf Course combines a rich history with a recently completed course renovation to make for one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s best municipal courses,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “Our team brings extensive local knowledge and experience in this region, and we’re excited to work closely with North Richland Hills to make Iron Horse a premier community resource for golfers and non-golfers alike.”
Iron Horse Golf Course was designed by Dick Phelps and opened in 1988. Known as one of DFW’s finest and most-celebrated mid-priced municipal courses, Iron Horse recently reopened after an extensive $3 million renovation funded by the City of North Richland Hills in September 2020. Led by Arlington-based architect Jeff Brauer, the project included major enhancements to the 6,700-yard, par-70 layout, such as widening playing corridors, improved irrigation, updates to the 13th and 14th holes, Better Billy Bunkers throughout the course and a new set of forward tees that play at 4,300 yards. The golf course is complemented by an expansive golf practice facility, fully appointed golf shop, full-service restaurant and bar and indoor/outdoor banquet facilities.
“Since its debut in 1988, Iron Horse Golf Course has set the standard for municipal golf and has proved to be a wonderful amenity for golfers and community groups in and around the city,” said Oscar Trevino, Mayor of North Richland Hills, Texas. “We’re thrilled to bring in the KemperSports team to manage this first-class facility and help us build on the course’s storied history and tradition in our city.”
Named for the still-active railroad that runs through the property, Iron Horse’s charm is elevated by the three authentic caboose cars that double as on-course facilities. Less than a mile from the property is the Iron Horse TEXRail station, one of nine stops along the 27-mile commuter rail line that provides transportation services between downtown Fort Worth and the DFW International Airport. Iron Horse becomes the fourth DFW-area facility under KemperSports management.
