CHAMPIONSGATE, FL, – Leadbetter Golf Academies (LGA) is proud to announce the addition of Leadbetter Golf Academy Maui to our global network of academies. Spearheaded by Leadbetter Instructors Eddie and Renee Lee, Leadbetter Golf Academy (LGA) Maui is set to officially open its doors January 2, 2021 at The Dunes of Maui Lani.
PGA professional Eddie Lee, a Top 5 instructor in the State of Hawaii on Golf Digest’s Best in State 2019-2020 rankings, has been a pivotal member in the development of Hawaiian golf instruction. Originally from San Bruno, California, Eddie began his career in Hawaii at Kapalua in 1991. After moving to Wailea in 1996, Eddie served as Director of Instruction at Maui’s Wailea Golf Club for 23 years and most recently was Director of Instruction at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai before he transitioned to The Dunes at Maui Lani. Renee Lee, also a PGA and Leadbetter certified golf instructor, has made an equally noteworthy impact on the island as Hawaii’s Junior Golf Leader selected by the Aloha Section PGA.
As Hawaii’s only LGA location, Eddie Lee and The Dunes of Maui Lani Director of Golf Scott Reinhart’s vision is to strengthen golf participation in the state and give back to instructors by developing a ‘golf hub’ for world-class instruction and aspiring instructors to learn and master their profession.
“We will want to train about five or six assistant teaching professionals about the Leadbetter philosophy.” Eddie believes the academy will be a steppingstone for instructors to establish their brand and advance their career in instruction. “At LGA Maui our team of instructors will offer world-class coaching to golfers of all abilities, including a special Leadbetter Kids program designed to introduce more children to this great game.”

Leadbetter Kids is David Leadbetter’s grassroots, “grow the game” initiative. The Leadbetter Kids umbrella includes coach education and certification, parent education and kids golf programming, including after-school golf programs. This program is designed to teach children ages 3-12 solid golf fundamentals and habits through David’s holistic approach to learning. Well-rounded lesson plans help develop physical, mental and social skills and build a foundation for further development.
