NEW YORK CITY, New York, – Leaderboard, a venture-backed golf app, today announced an upcoming integration with the United States Golf Association (USGA®). The integration will bring a new capability to the games and wagering platform, enabling golfers to post to their Handicap Index® directly from Leaderboard, as well as view their USGA scoring record from within the app.
With the addition of the handicap features, Leaderboard now offers end-to-end tools for golfers from the 1st tee to the 19th hole. Before a round, players can set up handicapped games and set the stakes with wagers. During play, golfers can see the live status of the competition and plan shots using hole maps and GPS. Once off the course, players can post their scores and stats to their Handicap Index and Leaderboard profile, chat with friends and keep up with their latest rounds.
“We’re thrilled to integrate our product with the World Handicap System™, administered by the USGA in the United States.” said Riley Pratt, Founder of Leaderboard. “Handicaps are inherently social and an important part of what makes golf unique in the sports world: they drive meaningful competition across ages, genders and skill levels. The integration will enhance the combination of competitive, solo, and social play our users love.”
The announcement reflects the USGA’s efforts to grow the game and streamline the process of signing up for and maintaining a handicap. In the Leaderboard app, golfers will have the option to link their profile to their Handicap Index and post scores to the USGA’s system. Starting in January the feature will be free to all users who maintain an active Handicap Index with an authorized golf club through an Allied Golf Association.
“We’re building a digital home for the next generation of golfers. It’s been a goal of ours from the start to integrate with the USGA rather than develop an alternative system. Our vision is to bring golfers together and make playing more fun, and this integration with the USGA is a key piece of realizing that vision.” said Pratt.
